Gazania (Gazania Rigens New Day Mix)
These gazania plants bloom profusely and add a wide array of color to flower beds or containers! Also called Treasure Flower, Gazania plants look wonderful grouped in clusters for a mass bedding ground cover, but can also planted in hanging baskets or in patio containers. Gazania rigens is a native of South Africa, and it needs full sun and soil that drains well. Gazania is known to re-seed, and it blooms profusely from summer through fall in cooler climates, and fall, winter and spring in hot climates.
Gazania care includes deadheading the spent flowers to promote the growth of more blooms. Gazania plants benefit from an application of a balanced liquid fertilizer every other week during the growing season. Water Treasure Flower plants slowly and deeply and let them dry out in-between waterings, as they are quite drought tolerant. Applying an organic mulch around the base of the plants helps to retain moisture.
