Demand in offshore race

In many sail races and regattas there is a demand to have a security stowage plan. It’s often a paper copy where to find the different safety gear, taped to a locker. After the race it will be taken down. What happened! Is the security not important after a race. Yes of course it is but you don’t want to have a paper copy taped to the locker. A good looking in permanent vinyl sheet (self-ahesive) inside the toilet will be a good solution to have a better security thinking on the boat. Yacht manual, yacht diagram, yacht safety diagram, they are all the same but different name. All to increase security on board. Don’t put up a temporary plan. Always think security.

Captains responsibility

CREW-NEED-TO-KNOW.

The captain is always responsible for the safety on board. The crew should have common knowledge how to use and where to find the safety equipment. The large stickers with international pictogram and the overview plan on a toilet door will help the captain to spread a lot of necessary knowledge about the boat and the equipment.

Inside the boat you place the sticker visable to the crew, guest onboard. There is still captains that doesn’t think they will have stickers onboard their boats. As a crew you should think ”is this safe at all. What more can the captain hidden from you”. Would you feel safe in car there the driver dismounted the safety belt or an airplane without safety signs. Nobody listen to the safety instruction but you would miss it if they didn’t have it. What the use of a first aid kit if you can’t find it.
