How to select fertilized eggs before incubation?

• Freshness is key when choosing fertilized eggs. Typically, fertilized eggs should be within 4-7 days of being laid. Do not wash the eggs or refrigerate them before incubation.
• When placing the eggs in the incubator, make sure to position them with the pointed side facing downwards.

What should be considered during the incubation process?

• Proper handling and careful monitoring are essential during the incubation process. This includes adding water to the incubator every 1-2 days, depending on the environment and the water level inside the incubator. If the temperature drops below 20°C/68℉, the incubator should be placed in a foam or towel-lined warm place to maintain proper heat.
• It is important to monitor the development of the eggs throughout the incubation period. There are three main times to test the eggs:

1. The first test (day 5-6): mainly checks for fertilization and to remove unfertilized or dead eggs.
2. The second test (day 11-12): checks for embryo development and looks for enlarged embryos with visible blood vessels and a large, well-defined air chamber.
3. The third test (day 16-17): checks for the development of the embryo and looks for a well-developed embryo that mostly fills the egg, with no light visible through most parts of the egg. Dead eggs will have blurred blood vessels, yellow areas near the air chamber, and an unclear boundary between the egg and air chamber.
4. Once the eggs begin to crack (usually around day 19-21), it's time for hatching. Increase the humidity to soften the eggshell and lower the temperature to 37-37.5°C/98.6-99.5℉ to facilitate hatching.
