While attending the University of Washington, MLB 2K9's cover athlete Tim Lincecum won the coveted Golden Spikes Award which is given to the nation's top college baseball player. He was drafted 10th overall by the San Francisco Giants in 2006. Known to fans as "The Franchise" and "The Freak", Lincecum was named to the National League All-Star team this past season while putting up astonishing numbers and leading the Majors with a remarkable 265 strikeouts. Lincecum also led the National League in other key pitching categories including win percentage (18-5, .783), opponent's batting average (.221), and strikeouts per nine innings (10.51), along with ranking second in earned run average (2.62). For all of his historic accomplishments, Lincecum won the Players' Choice Award as the National League Outstanding Pitcher this season, along with the National League Pitcher of the Year Award from Sporting News. Both awards were voted on by his peers. More significantly, Lincecum today was named the National League Cy Young Award winner, given annually to the top pitcher in both the American League and the National League, and voted on by members of the Baseball Writers' Association of America.

Get ready to get your uniform dirty as you play ball on the Wii with Major League Baseball 2K9 by Take-Two. You'll recognize your favorite players as MLB 2K9 captures such minute details as each player's unique batting stances, pitching windups, and swings. With new commentary and gameplay enhancements to all facets of the experience, Major League Baseball 2K9 is a whole new ballgame.

Wii-Specific Controls
With the Wii's motion controls, you'll be able to really get into the game. Using the Wii remote, you can throw perfect strikes by mimicking a throwing motion rather than using a combination of joysticks and buttons. Live out your fantasy by using a high leg kick, and going through the entire windup to throw your pitch. If you want to add extra movement or speed, simply flick your wrist, and the game will reflect the change on screen.

When you're at the plate, swing away with the Remote and Nunchuk to try to hit a home run, or use a more level swing to slap one to left field. Where your hit ends up depends on your timing, speed, and angle, and with the Wii, you'll see that "batting practice" really pays off. The Wii's motion controls lets you feel like you're actually playing baseball, rather than just playing a baseball game.

Rosters Updated for the 2009 Season
The latest rosters are included in the game, so your favorite team will have all its 2009 players, just like in real life. Compare your own video game season to your team's actual season.

New Play by Play and Commentary and New Music
MLB 2K9 brings with it the new broadcast team of Gary Thorne and Steve Phillips. The new team injects depth and insight into the game, and provides another level of realism. In addition, the game also has real-time crowd noise and other sound effects that will have you feeling like you're sitting in the bleachers.

A new soundtrack features the music of Judas Priest, Cheap Trick, Ted Nugent, Boys Like Girls, and more.

For baseball fans of all stripes, MLB 2K9 delivers the goods. Different difficulty levels make the game accessible by both rookies and veterans, so everyone can join in the fun.
