Norwegian blues guitarist and singer Bjrn Berge has just completed his debut UK tour, with one of the last of the great American bluesmen - Buddy Guy. Virtually unknown in the UK, Bjrn's guitar playing and vocals have mesmerised audiences right across mainland Europe for over a decade and, more recently, crossed the Atlantic to catch the attention and admiration of legendary bluesman Guy. Such was his admiration and respect for Bjrn's playing, the great man extended an invitation to open for him on his European tour. Bjrn released his first solo album in 1999 and to date has a total of ten albums to his credit, the latest of which is 'Fretwork'. Featuring nine of his own compositions plus three covers, 'Fretwork' was produced by Bjrn Berge and Kjetil Ulland who also plays percussion on the album. It also includes two famous Norwegian guest artists; yvind Staveland (violin and viola) and Vidar Johnsen (vocal). The combination of Stavelands violin and Bjrn Berges acoustic guitars has maybe given his songs a wider and more open atmosphere than previously heard and has everything from gentle instrumentals to delta-blues, to the more powerful impressionistic songs that have become part of Bjorn Berges signature. Personnel: Bjrn Berge (vocals, 12 + 6 string guitar, electric guitar, footstomp and percussion), guests: yvind Staveland (viola, violin), Vidar Johnsen (backing vocals), Kjetil Ulland (percussion).
