Symptoms of a Bad Intake Manifold Gasket
With repeated exposure to heat cycles, dirt and debris and lack of cooling system maintenance, the intake manifold gasket can become brittle and crack, leading to gasket failure. Symptoms of a failing intake manifold gasket include:
Coolant internal leaks may also cause:
- Rough running/engine misfire
- White smoke from the tailpipe
- Coolant loss resulting in engine overheating
- Coolant loss into the engine oiling system may result in contaminating engine oil
- Green, red, yellow, or blue leaks under vehicle
- A sweet smell from under the hood with no visible signs of leakage on the ground.
Leaks like engine oil and coolant can be problematic. These not only cause unsightly stains but may lead to serious problems if not repaired.
