About the author

Johanna Spyri was a Swiss author born near Zürich in 1827, who mostly wrote children’s stories. As a child, she spent several summers near Chur in Graubünden, which she later used as a setting in her books. Her most famous work, Heidi, was originally published in two parts sometime around 1880-1, and is one of the

best-selling books ever written.

About the illustrator

Carole Aufranc is an illustrator based in Switzerland. She holds a Master’s in Children’s Book Illustration from the University of Cambridge. She creates work for all kind of formats: children’s books, stationery, magazines and textile. She uses a special hybrid handmade and digital papercut and collage technique. She developed her craft over the years, drawing inspiration especially from her love for nature, nordic simplicity and mid-century art. She has done illustration and covers for many publishers, including NorthSouth Books, Simon and Schuster, Plume de Carotte and Moppet Books.
