No Difference Seen in Swallow Ability Between Purée and Crispy Melts
A barium study examining the ability of patients to eat different types of solids when they have swallowing issues showed that there was no difference in the ability to swallow with purée or Crispy Melts. There are 3 main reasons why this matters:
1) Texture is the most important quality in food enjoyment
2) Gaining a solid food mouthfeel may improve the swallow function
3) Increasing sugar-free, plant-based foods supports overall health

Crispy Melts Require Less Effort to Swallow Compared to Purée
In a fiberoptic endoscopy study, they not only showed no difference in the ability to swallow Crispy Melts compared to purée but fewer swallows were required and less food residue was left in the mouth after swallowing. This highlights 2 important needs for a patient that Crispy Melts addresses:
1) Less food residue is better to help prevent food aspiration
2) Making eating and swallowing easier will help a person eat more food
