WALK WITH ME INTO THE DARK HEART OF SCOTLAND
Reading has always been a passion for me. I love authors who build up a feeling of tension and foreboding in their books. Dracula by Bram Stoker is a classic example. More recently I have added The Woman in Black by Susan Hill and Dark Matter by Michelle Paver to my list of favourite stories.
So far, I have published seven books, the most recent being titled, A Ghost in the Glen, seven macabre tales set in Scotland. My previous book, Porcelain is a dark tale of one man’s journey across Scotland in a desperate bid to escape the porcelain lady who follows his every move. My first two books, The Path, and Deadwater are ghost stories that will hopefully take you on a lonely journey into the deep corners of your imagination. I want the reader to feel that they are the main character in the book, so you have no choice but to turn each page with a mixture of hope, anticipation, and fear. Maybe then you too can become lost in the isolated forests and dark forlorn Gothic Mansions.
My third novel, Broken Leaves is a tale of self-destruction and revenge. I wonder how many of us have a dark past that we hope will never come back to haunt us? This book was followed by, A Season for Ghosts. Nine macabre tales from the deep shadows of Scotland. After this came, Scotland Shall Burn. It follows the outcome of a fictional Scottish student independence uprising in the 1960s. The ghost of William Wallace haunts the background of this tragic tale. Things go wrong when the young people of a borders village decide to invade England and take over the town of Berwick. The story mixes Love, tragedy, horror, and even a bit of black humour.
A lonely week-long trek across the forests and mountains of Scotland inspired me to write my first book. Of course, I had talked about doing this for years and finally, in my fifties, I sat down and typed the first words. From that point on there could be no return.
